I've been waiting for the new series of graphics card, but I'm realizing that the price at release is probably gonna be alot more than I'm willing to put into a new GPU.

Anyone got any clue as to how big of an improvement the new cards will have over the current gen?
Two weeks ago the 7970 was sold at the price of a 7950, should probably have grabbed it then but I was determined to wait for the new cards.

Should I look for a cheapo 7970/7950 or wait for the new cards?

If you're considering waiting, you might as well wait - it's rumored to be not too far away.
The new cards will push 7950/7970 prices down even further, and who knows, maybe something new will better fit your price bracket?

I'd get 2 of the MSI 7950 for $180 after rebate

NO way a new card will be able to outperform them for $360

dual-gpu is out of the question. I was looking at something around 330$.

Op you are getting some amazing prices on HD 7950 / HD 7970. the new HD 9900 cards are going to sell in a different price range, probably USD 450 - 600. so it all depends on how much you want to spend.
