40% over Ex meaning 10% over Sandy I suppose maybe a little more.
more like matching sandy-ish and definitely not haswell/skylake grade like people were claiming.

40% estimated.. even 2/3rd of that would be great.. but fear of the hype (shivers for bulldozer..) looks like they want to get up to Into in performance.

As far as Geekbench scores are concerned, a 40% improvement over Steamroller would put it within 10% of Haswell (Haswell performance is 1.5x Steamroller, 1.5/1.4 = 1.06~). I doubt XV will bring any significant improvements to IPC, so Zen sounds like it'll be just a bit slower than Haswell in the best case.

Also, dropping CMT will also mean no more handicap in multi-threading, so at least they have a really good chance of improving multi-thread performance over Intel.

If Zen has just under Haswell in single thread and they can push the multithread to be better.. that would make a very competitive chip especially with dx12 vulkan

Well, Geekbench is a mixed test. And Zen's improvement may not be even across different workloads. I'm hoping it's skewed towards a big FP improvement, but we won't know until the chips launch in 2016.

People should also remember that slides like these are going to present a rosy picture and that we don't know anything about clocks yet.

Yep, if we're lucky it's a clock by clock, thread by thread comparison. If we're not, it's a full package comparison.
