Today i will install GTX4601gb to replace AMD 4850 in my main rig.

Mobo:Gigabyte 970a-ud3 with 2 pci-e slots with AMD 5830 in first pci-e x16 slot and GTX 460 1gb will go to second slot replacing AMD 4850.
I m using Windows 7 x64.

So how would i start the upgrade process?
I would do it myselfe with this order:
1.Uninstall all amd drivers and shut down
2.remove amd 4850
3. Boot just with 5830 and install AMD drivers and after reboot shut down.
4.install GTX460 and install Nvidia drivers.
5.Boinc away with AMD and Nvidia gpus.

Would this work or do i just take amd 4850 off without uninstall and add gtx460 and install nvidia drivers and that's all?

Thank you very much!

Sounds good to me just the way you said it except easier to:

1) Uninstall all drivers.
2) Remove 4850 and replace with gtx460
3) reboot and install AMD then Nvidia drivers.

Did it your way and everything was smooth sailing

Thank you very much.

Only downsize is that Palit GTX4601gb is 192bit with 1gb mem, not the way it was earlier 768=192bit and 1gb=256bit versions. This is factory overclocker to 779mhz core and 4000mhz mem. Just found it out from Gpu-z and nothing at the website where i bought it. Well that was the last time i will buy anything from them that's for sure.

The manager is only requesting work units for the AMD GPU? If so, choose "no new tasks" for those projects, let the remaining tasks finish and then detach and reattach to see if it fixes the issue.

You can run both AMD and Nvidia units on BOINC at the same time?

I'm interested. I've got a a 570 in my rig (awaiting RMA approval, need to raise voltage to make it stable) and two 6850s sitting in boxes idle waiting to be sold --- what would be the process for me to use all 3 GPUs?

To insure it runs the way you want, edit the PROJECT Preferences to use only the ATI or Nvidia as the case may be...

I do not need to use a Crossfire bridge, correct?

Alright.

So I had the Nvidia drivers. I took out the GTX570, put in a 6850, installed AMD drivers, installed another 6850, and then installed the GTX570. Every step in between I rebooted.

My maximum resolution is 1280x1024

I'll only be running for a day, I hope this works!
