AMD Athlon 4400 x2 OC issues

Hello, I have been messing around with over clocking my 4400+ and I have read many different posts from people overclocking these pretty high on stock voltage.. I am only at 230 mhz on my fsb for 2.53 ghz and it will only run if i up my cpu voltage to 1.375v.. Am I going about something wrong here? I have my LDT/FSB(HTT) at x4 for 920MHZ, I have the ram/FSB at 180mhz.. I am not completely sure how setting the ram frequency works if someone could enlighten me. Also any thoughts on why I need to increase voltage so soon would be great too.. Thanks in advance..

System:
DFI lan party nf4 sli
2 gig corsair xms ddr 800
amd athlon 4400+ (toledo)

It has problems booting? What temps are you getting?

The system is running stable at 2.53ghz / 1.4v with idle temps at around 36 and temps under load at 46 maxing out at 50c.. When I try going over 2.53ghz I seem to hit a wall. I am curious about why I had to up the voltage with only a 300mhz jump? This setup with stock voltage will get to the windows start screen and reboot.

you shouldn't have to up the voltage till you pass the 250 mark
my old x2 3800 went to 2.75ghz 1.42volts on a a8n sli

Yeah, I was assuming that much. No thoughts on why I have to up the voltage to stabilize it at this point?
