When I was looking at this I was thinking about AMD not having these raytracing cores, AMD plans to use raytracing would probably work with compute processing? would it work in case Nvidia Wanted to push Raytracing in games with a RTX Models like a gameworks API?

Any CPU and GPU are more than capable of running an application with Ray Tracing, however you probably won't get the same performance as the RTX which has dedicated hardware for such rendering techniques. Any system running real time ray tracing requires a server farm to do it. Even in AMD's presentation it mentions it needs multiple GPUs or it takes minutes to render an image.

Nvidia is claiming they have a real time ray tracing capable card on hand will be selling it soon. However it seems its not full ray tracing just partial with some neat tricks to help merge ray tracing into standard rasterization.
