Hello, I am wondering if this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144310
and the AMD 3500+ (venice core) would be a good pair for overclocking, or just a good pair at clock speed. Would they?

it'll be fine for stock runs, but dont expect great overclocking from it. I'd say 225-230 max fsb at stock timings.

other wise, it will do ddr400 at 2.5-3-3-8 ( as people have said in reviews)

So, you are saying the ram, or the CPU is bad? Or both? If ram is bad combo with CPU, what would be good ram for this CPU?
That RAM would be fine if it's all your budget will allow. You can just run the memory on a divider if you want your FSB higher than the memory can go.

Well, one what exactly is a divider (i know i am a noob no need to say it). And the way it sounds...wouldn't that hinder my "dual channel" capabilities?
I don't know a whole lot about dual channel, but I'm guessing it doesn't make a difference with dividers as long as the sticks are identical. Here's a run-down of dividers:

Dividers make your memory run slower than your FSB. If you run a 333(5:6) and you're FSB is 200, then your memory would run at 166Mhz. If you ran a 266(2/3) and you're FSB is 200Mhz, your memory would be at 120Mhz.

This makes it easier if, say, you're computer can go up to 250 Mhz, but you're memory can only run 210Mhz, then you can run a 5:6 (RAM:CPU ratio) divider and get 250:210. This will give you much better performance than having your FSB at 210 as well.

Hope this helps.
So divider=good? How much does a divider cost?

lol. well a divider is actually bad, its better to run memory and fsb(or however you want to call it) at 1:1 so if you fsb is at 200 you ram is 200 to. this is always the best, but if you dont have such high quality ram it can be that when you start overclocking your system that your fsb will go higher than the ram will thats when dividers come into play, like the other guy said with the 250mhz fsb and then have your rams running at 210, but the best is if you can run fsb and memory both at 250 mhz, this will require good rams.

First it would be pretty handy to know which mainboard you are going to get, because compitability issues with some of them, then I would advise you to spend more money on good rams and a good mainboard then on your cpu. If you get the 3200+ or the 3000+ you can save lots of money, and still get a very good overclock.

So that we can help you best way possible, you should decide what you want to spend in total, tell us everything you need and what you expect your computer doing, make a educated decision about if you want sli or not.

edit:The divider is a bios option so you dont have to pay extra to use one

The ram link isn't very clear. I'd also pick a 16mb (cache) Maxtor instead of that HDD.
