try re seatting your heatsink/fan
Hi there AMOCO thanks for the info i have allready tryed that but it didnt help im using AS5 thermal paste is there sum special way i should be applying it coz i only put it on how it shows you on the artic silver website
Is it a Brisbane? Might be a bad sensor or so...
yes it is a brisbane core with G2 stepping i think

I know that some temp software gives me false reading too, & as for as5.i just put very little & then spreed it with my finger,so i get a thin but even coat

As Andy suggested, Brisbanes are known to have deficient temp sensors.
oh ok all i do is put a dot no bigger than a grain of rice in the middle of the cpu like it said on the artic silver website i might redo it again for the second time and see how it goes thanks
hmm what about the temps in bios? have you even touched the voltage? 50c idles is just too hot. i'm ocing my cpu right now wtih stock cooling and 50c is my max full load temp. try maxing the fan.

temp sensors are bugged..same issues with other brisbanes..

Sounds like your case needs better cooling, as if that HSF is seated right with AS5, you shouldn't be getting those temps. Try taking off the side panel and see if that helps any.

Also, while the core temps on most brisbanes are messed up, usually the overall CPU temp is pretty close. Try some different software to see if you cant find the right temp. I'd suggest HW monitor, speedfan and OCCT.

Also, you can find your approximate load temp with BIOS (which is how I could tell you're running hot, even if it is a brisbane).

BIOS is about a 60-80% load, so you just take you're BIOS cpu temp, and then do some simple math to see about where you should be with your load temp in windows.

In your case, you look like you're loading between 60-80c which is definitely unsafe for OCin. I would make sure that your CPU is getting the right voltage in the BIOS (stock vcore for most of these is 1.25-1.35v), as I've seen them set on auto to the wrong voltage before, creating temp problems.

Good luck

yer its set to 1.39v its on auto in the bios but wen i cheange it it only goes up i can try and reseat the HS/F again which i will do soon thank you
hi there i reseated my HS/F with new AS5 and the temps are at 46c at full load is that any better for overclocking

If your temps really are 46c under load, then you've got enough headroom to try a bit of overclocking. Try to keep it under 55c while loaded though.

Good luck

I am a novice computer builder: Built three AMD systems this year. Because of my green-ness, I placed a few intake fans that were blowing in the wrong direction. This actually caused my cpu temp to drop to an average of 32-33 celsius from nearly 40 at idle. All I did was place a fan blowing out of the case from the fan grille just left of the video cards. I have a pair of 9600GSO SLI'd cards that get stupid hot in my personal rig.

I use Antec 300 cases and remove the 2 - 120mm fans from the front and just use a 120mm as I said near video card and another 120mm as a rear exhaust. This configuration beat a combo of 4 120mm fans and a single top mounted 140mm for cooling an AMD 6000+. I wish I had saved my money on all these darn fans! The only other cooling is a thermaltake V1 heatsink/fan.
that is true and it works like a vacuum but it depends on what state you are from and what the room temperature... i have 3 exhaust fans one on the video card, by the cpu and one on top... idea is to keep the air moving and not letting it sit in one place or recircullate
