Despite Intel´s efforts, this display of pride of the NetBurst architecture in the form of the Pentium Extreme Edition 955 and $999 hasn´t really left us convinced. Thanks to the 65 nm fabrication process, power consumption is reduced and clock frequencies are increased, but performance gains aren´t significant enough for Intel to catch up with AMD´s strengths or increase the gap where Santa Clara was already ahead.

I think that says it all.

Even with a skewed test (13% OC versus a 23% OC), too little too late. This has me wondering if Conroe has a dual core option being worked on?
