Just upgraded my gf cpu from a sempron le-1300 to a phenom x3 8650. I installed hw monitor on her rig and noticed under CPU V Core the voltage was 1.67-1.68v! Is this correct or a misread by the program? Not there right now, and her internet is down right now, just was wondering if anyone else knows of this. Her sig rig is in my sig for until about 3 hours after this post.

Thanks for the response guys. Its a OEM Bios from HP so there is no way to change cpu settings, nor does it display settings only the type and speed of cpu, and I have always used HW Monitor and known it to be accurate. Her temps are high but its a stock AMD fan and the one that was on the Sempron LE so I expected the high temps until the after market fan and heatsink arrive.

Maybe the chips being a little older or the motherboard being OEM, some Pegatron Narra5 board is causing a misread. God I hope its a misread.

cpu core temps are 35-55 idle to load. There is no "cpu temp" title on hw monitor but on speed fan there is and its between 40-75 idle to load.

Max for this chip is 70c so thats why the new cooling is in the mail.

But if the volts are really that high then that could be the culprit, but I really doubt that the volts could actually be that high with no issues on stock cooling.

I went straight from socket 939 to AM3 in my tinkering days, thats why Im so outta the loop on these Phenom 1's. Had about a 4 year period where i didnt touch computers.

god those are high, i used the phenom 2 cooler on my sis in laws comp, the one with the dht pipes and it sits at 20 idle and 20 load. the 8650 are not that great especially sice it a phenom 1, did you buy it new/used or had it laying round. i would pick up a cheap mb from somewhere.
Got it used for 40 bucks shipped. Seems like a pretty good little cpu so far for her older games. Coupled with a 8800GTS her rig is making me wonder why i paid for a Thuban and 5870. Just worried bout that voltage reading and temps right now. But yeah I do need to find her another board so we can oc a little.
