So this is what i came up with , want to know what you guys think, it will be used for gaming/multitasking/photoshoping
CPU: AMD PHENOM II X4 920 2.8GHZ
GPU: XFX GF9800GT PCI-E 512MB DDR3 2XDVI XXX
MOBO: ASROCK AM2+ AMD780G
PSU: Zalman 500W ( No Corsairs in stock atm)
RaM: CORSAIR XMS2-6400 2X2GB DDR2 W. DHX
HD: WD CAVIAR 640GB SATA2 7200RPM 16MB
CASE: lots to choose from , will let him decide

I'm on a really tight budget here, and this parts barely make it

He doesn't know how to overclock, so a high end mobo is not needed, and that's the reason i choose the xxx edition of the GPU

Well you could be a good buddy and overclock his system for him.

I would go with an X3 as well in this case and they tend to get 3.7-4Ghz pretty easily.

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...9&Tpk=X3%20720
$147

BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138130
$109
I second the Tri 720 BE, good performance for the $$$. But whats your budget?
He wants a quad core no matter what, so x3 is not an option. He says 3ghz will be enough for him , so ill only oc for 200mhz
About $750 , but keep in mind that every thing is ~10-30% more expensive in my country...

if wants to go nvidia and doesn't plan to go sli

hybrid sli that vcard with this mobo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131318

and you get to save a lot of energy

otherwise ati cards are a more practical option. if he's not into folding, i highly recommend an ati card like a 4830 since it's cheaper and faster.

Well he's stubborn , that's why he want to go nvidia . The performance is about the same , so it doesn't matter. Also i heard that nvidia is better for photoshoping

Actually ATI is known for having better image quality. So you'd want ATI in that case, but either way, Photoshop isn't that intensive on video cards.

Gonna check if any shops here have that mobo you suggested. Well i'll try to change his mind. Also i think nvidia will be better for him, since he wants to play UT3 , and other games running on that engine. Forgot to mention , he is using a 19" monitor , so this card will be plenty for him ,am i right?

Yes, these cards are great for 19-21" monitors

Yeah, I second the ram and hdd comment. More ram and a faster HDD and the system will FLY! My sig rig barely breaks a sweat with Vista.
