I've heard more than once that the speed of some AMD fans can't be modified...
Is it true for the Athlon64X2 3800+??

Actually I would like to lower the fan speed when the computer is idle (90% of the time ). I've tried everything with speedFan but it does not seem to work...

So, if the fan speed can be modified, does anybody know where I can find a SpeedFan tutorial for handicapped?

thanks in advance,
Your Bios Can Do this - Just look for the PC Health Option and you will find something like this

CPU FAN 100% if temp >25
CPU FAN OFF if temp <25
