OK its not a powerhouse, but my Sempron 2800 (thought it was 2600, but its not) is severely lagging. Not even playing Guild Wars.

I formatted the hard drive and installed my own copy of Windows XP Pro Corporate and installed SP2 (it came with XP Home with SP2) and only installed the software I used (and not all the crap HP had on it, 90% of it is "trial" aka advertising).

In windows settings everything is set to performance, means no fancy transition effects and no background image and all that.

i have Norton IS 2005 installed, which I HATE cause even on my desktop i can tell a million times difference in load up when its installed, but i'm afraid to not use it.

OK so i'm going from 256 mb on the laptop (with 32 shared with video for a total of 224) and I ordered 2 sticks of 512 mb from new egg (so now I'll probably up the shared memory from 32 to 64 or 128 which is max for a total of either 960 mb or 896) so do you think i'll see a noticeable increase in performance ? Or is the shared GPU going to kill me ?

Following is the specs per NewEgg:

Model ADFDB1916
Type 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM

Speed DDR 333 (PC 2700)

Yeah getting 1024 ram u will notice for sure. Also I'd get rid of Norton straight away and install AVG Free Edition which will be much lighter for your system. If you use the combo AVG/Microsoft Antispyware (both freeware) u won't need Norton.
