I so seriously can't stand DRM and max install base games it drives me crazy... I know i should unactivate/revoke/delete blah blah blah but the reality is if I install 10000x on the same machine, with same hardware but multiple OS's I cant run them all at the same damn time... Soooooooooooooo over being treated like some petty theif for their stinking app.

My tech support claim as their phone support is manned by nitwits.....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My Serial: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Unlock Request Code: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

THIS IS ANNOYING AS HELL! Why for the love of god do you do this to people that actually paid for your software? Its not like you cant deduce the ip or netblock ppl are signing in from, let alone standard hardware configs regardless of host operating system................

You are annoying the crap out of the fools that actually paid for your game LIKE ME and not the people pirating it... do you understand? Pirated versions do not have this stupid problem and you make no money from it at all. By continuing to do this you only serve to harass the hell out of me and Id rather install a drm/max install liberated pirated version of your game then have to endure another mindless email dialog with your tier 1 tech support asking me ******ed questions about why I reinstalled my os, or upgraded my hardware; it none of your freakin business so fix this stupid lame a$$ "feature" or refund my stinking miserable $50 .

This is like having to take the car back to the dealership everytime I change its tires because you disable the starter, jesus christ this is BS.

Stop treating the folks that actually buy your software like CRIMINALS you morons, and crack down elsewhere.

That sucks...
The only problem I've ever had with any sort of software being installed multiple times was Windows XP... but a quick call to the customer service ensured that I could install it *one* more time.
And when one more time came... pick up the phone and do it again

This reminds me how bad the big gaming companies are getting. I remember back in like 2000-2002 I thought EA was awesome cause they so easily stream lined games.....Now though...Im starting to get a little nervous, it seems more and more common that you no longer own a game but just simply rent it while paying the full price.
I know how you feel.

I emailed them about getting a replacement key for World in conflict.

I explained that i had been forced to reformat my computer, and attached multiple pictures of the box, CD, and a piece of paper with my name + email + massgate login info. Their response: "go here and get your key out of the registry"

I'm getting ready to buy my games off of steam so i don't have to deal with serial keys/activation limits.
I know what you mean. The same thing happened to me with crysis. I lost the manual (which I found) and called up EA. They gave me all kinds of crap about me trying to get a pirated version to work because of a keygen I used. I finally got them to let me give them the serial number on the disk and whatnot which made them leave me alone and give me a new key....
I actually buy the games I want to play, then set aside the box and pirate it so I never need install any DRM. Games I need to a valid key for online play, I have it b/c I bought the game. Otherwise, I get by without of any of this DRM nonsense, and it is b/c I use the cracked version.

You've paid for the game, F* their DRM. I know that breaks TOS but this stuff gets me mad. Just go download a working version of the game YOU'VE ALREADY PAID FOR.
This is why i have both versions of most of my games is because of this crap i go and buy it then get the no bs one

You know what, when people say "X amount of copies of New Hit Game were pirated!" I wonder how many of those downloads are by people who've already paid for the game.

A minority, but hey at least someone paid for the game.

I know how you feel man

I have the odd game which has DRM and if it runs out im just gonna pirate it. there i said it lol
DRM is fail, especially like that when it ends up only damaging the paying customer

i'm starting to think steam is the best option tbh. not to mention most of Ubi's games are not very good

Oh, great. Just was talking about installing SH4 again.

You're right, they shouldn't let paid customers go through this DRM hell -- the pirates sure don't.

Apperantly, it is almost an invitation to piracy acts.

I for one loved Mass Effect, in fact I loved it so much I went to get it for the PC just to find out, that I was working with very annoying license revokation and activation methods.
It made me wonder, whether these companies even have the slightest idea that these so-called anti-piracy methods are hurting the customers instead of the targetted audience.

I take Company of Heroes of a fine example how it should be done, link your CD-key to an online account and voilla DRM goes out the door, boot up and play the game without the need for a CD/DVD.

I just don't get it why I pay the premium price for a game, and have to count the number of times I install it on my own box, just because there's a maximum of 5 allowed installs.

This is the main reason why I disected to Steam.

This whole DRM story is utter "BS" those who actively download games, don't have even the remote intention to buy that game, those who did might still download it, and still buy it.
It's a simple statement yet, developers are calling PC gamers pirates.

Look at Cliffy B (Gears of War developer) apperantly GoW 2 will not come to the PC since the piracy it 'too' high.
To hell with that statement!

I can't go on my local second-hand market (marktplaats) without bumping into 12 different people offering their premium 360 mod abilities.

The longer this stretches out the more I am inclined to divert to piracy when it is not released on STEAM.

I really think from here on out I am going to install the pirated copies and not even open the shrink wrap on these games. I dont endorse pirating in the slightest degree as I develop applications & games for a living, but this is complete and total nonsense. I'll gladly pay to support a company that makes great software but here on out I'll be damned before I install any more of their DRM spyware/hateware activation counting ball busting mind numbing frontal lobotomizing monitoring crap

I, for the life of me, can't figure out why companies though this DRM nonsense would prevent piracy...

I mean if companies make it harder for a legitimate customer to play the game that they paid for, knowing full well just how easy it is for that customer to say, "I could buy this game or I could download it in a day or two," their pouring gasoline on the 'piracy fire' and they get no sympathy from me.

Wouldn't it make more sense to focus on content and lower prices, so that people who enjoy the software actually want to buy it!. All these mediocre games come out and it seems like the developer spent more time 'pirate-proofing' the software than developing it.

I make it a point to buy games that I know I will like (Clear Sky, for instance, or BioShock) from developers who don't pull this DRM business. Steam is the way of the future!!

This thread is an infraction-party waiting to happen!

One thing is to simply don't uninstall when you reinstall the OS...
95% of all the games work that way.

*forget* Ubisoft, and *forget* Ubisoft Montreal. Not only are their games (while alluring and addicting) poorly designed, and corny (i.e. gameplay) they are the buggiest pieces of programming I have ever seen. Never have I tried to use software with so many incompatibilities and flat-out glitches as I have with Ubi/U.Montreal. The DRM license is overkill. This whole thing can go *take a hike* along with Sony's rootkit scandal. Mind you, this is all "IMO". ;-P

Far Cry 2 could have been so much better, but the a-holes at U.M. can't seem to get their poo straight.

Thank you for this opportunity.
Thx.

P.S. I don't pirate games. Guess what else I don't do!: I don't buy Ubisoft games anymore.

I agree with pretty much everything stated here. And on top of all the DRM crap I can't play FarCry2 more than 10 minutes without my computer crashing. No problems with any other games though. Ubisoft won't be getting any of my money down the road, that is for sure.
