Yes I just Received another Faulty Antec Kuhler!
biggrin.gif

This is my 4th Kuhler, That right! It just arrived in the mail today, and guess what? it also has a faulty pump with imbalanced internals. Its not air bubbles, I shook the hell out of its radiator, had it plugged in for hours now, nope didn't help.

My friend still has his Kuhler that is wispier quite. Heck my 3rd replacement even worked for a monh or so before starting the noise. I dont understand is it my bad luck(4 times?) or is it just some weird sudden fall in quality control?

I am on my 3rd Kuhler 620 and this thing has started making the ghey rattling and grinding noise like a concord is passing my window!!

The thing is audible over all my fans and I am well over two feet away from my computer. My H70 in the past two years of service has never made such rattle.
What the hell is up with antec and their quality control? there are so many people online with this same ******ed impaler shaft rattling noise problem that its ridiculous

I have Had it with Antec.
I have already spent over $20 shipping the last two units back and forth.
Not buying another Antec Kuhler again, never recommending it to anybody either. not until Antec has better products that dont make noise!!!
its a Shame because the Kuhler was a really nice cooler, too bad quite operation is considered lucky if you buy these units.

I think Its not bad luck but a bad batch
biggrin.gif
I have been pretty 'lucky' over the years tho

It just cant be, I just plugged in my friends 620 and there is NO such noise!!

I am plugging them in with a 3Pin to Molex converter. My H70 works fine, Friends Kuhler 620 (1 year old) works fine.
Definitely not my luck but something inside the pump.

It can't be, I bought mine about 2 months ago, and mine has no issues (then again, it's probably from a different batch), but they should have heard that noise while it was tested in the factory.

Dang that is LOUD. I RMA'd my first one too, when the replacement arrived it made the same noise but just little bit less noisy.
Made the ticking sound even though I ran it on its side for hours, shaking(no, I did not do it gently) and tapping on the pump. I was too lazy to do another RMA, I mounted it and the noise was gone.

They haven't done anything about this issue and kept on shipping the same design and high rate of ticking pumps.

They should have given you a free upgrade to a 920 or something to compensate for all the head ache they gave you.

Pump is "cavitating" as it's called in the pump industry - either due to air bubbles in the pump, or a bad pump. I can almost promise that you haven't gotten 4 bad pumps in a row, and now I'm not denying that something sounds wrong with that pump.. Any pump (with few exceptions) will make a noise like rocks are inside of it if it is not completely filled with liquid and void of air. I suggest flipping the radiator for starters, to ensure a steady supply of water is at both the inlet, and outlet of the pump - make sure the hoses are coming out the bottom of the radiator, not the top like in your video.. Also run the pump for five minutes without messing with it and shaking it about for a few minutes - noise should really only be heard while the system works out the initial few air bubbles until they find a place inside of the radiator to sit for a while - Operation should be nearly silent after that.

Not saying you haven't tried this, but try setting the pump flat on the table, on the plastic cover to eliminate that from rattling. Then grab the radiator with both hands and SHAKE THE IMMORTAL PISS outta it (while running)and keep it held above the pump for like 2 or 3 mins. Try that before sending it back in, and post vid of it running afterwords. Also, hold it in that position in when you video it again.

It sounds like it's just running dry, the piece of gasket that holds the propeller in place isn't very strong so when it runs dry it starts to get loose and starts to rattle (I tore one apart just for fun).

Mine did that, then when I got the air out it was fine.
Do what Reaver said then try setting the radiator above the pump on a box and let it run that way a couple hours.
Unless you've already done so.

Between your Antec Kuhler and your friend's, is the tubing the same? If the tubing was changed in ID size to be a little smaller cavitation could occur. Even if the tubing was the same size as before, but softer material cavitation can occur. Getting the flow to the pump is ideal. Having flow choked going to the pump can cause pump failure.

I've scanned through some of those links in your first post. Indeed there are some strange issues about those units. The strange thing is, the Corsair Hydro series should show the same behavior, however, I'm not hearing about those problems like this. They must have a different pump.

With the H100/H80/H60, there's an issue when there's too much voltage being supplied by the power supply... even at 12.4 it's too much. It causes a rattle sound.

I'm wondering if yours might be something similar? Too little or too much voltage. It might explain why 4 in a row you're experiencing this.

i agree, adjust mode in BIOS to voltage/rpm and reduce the voltage or rpm and retest.

I need to get myself a 3pin to 4 pin molex adapter. I wonder if I can find one of those locally.

That sucks bro, but it's good to not be alone

I tried Every Suggestion imaginable and found in this thread, not to mention so much I found online, I even opened up one of my Kuhlers the (second replacement) to fix the noise by adding some heatshrink to the shaft, Nothing worked.

I Returned the Kuhler For a Full Refund Guys, its been 7 days and still haven't got my refund
