C and C++ are probably the 2 most used languages on Linux, so yes, it's definitely supported if you have the build utilities installed.

Do this in the terminal:

Code:
Code:
sudo apt-get install build-essential
You now have a working C++ and C compiler installed.

This is the tutorial I used:
http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial.html#c++tutorial

To compile something for C++:

Code:
Code:
g++ file
To compile something for C:

Code:

Check out gedit for writing in pretty much any language, even some not so main stream ones. It has built in syntax checking.

Click where it says "plain text" and select the language you're writing in. Color coded ahhhhhh!
