What's your budget? You may be able to find a better one for not much more. It's not that this is a bad power supply, but for overclocking peace of mind, I would get something better.
Link doesn't work. Also, even if you are on a budget, I'd still go with a quality psu, since it is the heart of your computer
yeah link doesn't work, reroutes to antec global home. Antec psu's are great, if you are looking at earthwatts then those are efficient and good, also fairly cheap.
Well I would like not to spend over 70 dollars but I'm getting this at Frys because I want it up and running today. (very needy!
) So yeah.... 85 is the limit I would say. :/

Thank you!

Hope this link works.... http://www.frys.com/product/5045145?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Wasn't there a deal going on the OCZ modxstream or whatever psus? I know that microcenter had them the last time I was there (like 600W for 50 usd), maybe Fry's will have it I don't know.
The Antec Basiq power supplies aren't very good.

Well, the 430W and 550W are decent, but they're built by Delta, and this is built by FSP.

I believe it has insane ripple issues.

basiq psu's are what there name implies , they are decent psu's
That seems fair if you were going to a frys but i think there are better deals online for it man.
edit: I was mistaken, thought it was the same as the bp550. here it is on newegg for cheaper, basiq 500w psu. They seem decent i guess, but this antec bp550 is the better buy IMO.

I have a Rocketfish 700W/CWT 550W for sale for $40 shipped. It's labeled a 700W, but that's because the product development people at Best Buy are idiots. It's a CWT 550W design used in some Thermaltake 550W models that go for $70+ new. $40 is a good price. Interested?
WOW! Really?? only 50!?! O_O!!
But unfortunately the closest Mircocenter is 246 Miles away from me ONE WAY TRIP.... :[!!!

The Basiq 500W is a great budget PSU IMO. Go for it.

This would be a better choice.

The BP500U was originally made by FSP and it was alright, but certainly not worth $70. AFAIK all current Earthwatts and Basiq models in production are now made by Delta to similar quality levels as the FSP and Seasonic built units, i.e. good enough but nothing impressive. But I am sure there are still some FSP units floating around so it hard to say which one you will get. The only review of the BP500U (the FSP version) I know of is here.

For the price the Corsair is a much better choice.

Also what will you be running with this PSU?

I'm a noob when it comes to PSU's but it only has one single 12v rail, does this matter for my 4870??

The link in the OP works. All you have to do is choose your location. Then once you've chosen your location, it'll always bring you to the page he's talking about every time you click on it.

Try it!

No, it doesn't make a difference.

Single rail units are usually preferred, but there's no real difference between them, at all.

There used to be, I believe, but the manufacturers have got a hold of themselves, and got things up to scratch.

I believe PC Power and Cooling have some propaganda telling everyone that multi-rail power supplies are bad... this is wrong; ignore what they say.

Oh nice find. I concur that the VX450W is a much better choice here. Unfortunately, it's impossible to judge Fry's inventory by shopping on their website. I mean, I want to shop around, but I feel limited. They just don't show their entire inventory and selection.

These days, a single powerful rail like this one is almost usually better.

I had a Basiq 500 watt that I got for $10 shipped from Fry's a while back. It worked fine for a few months on a folding rig powering 2 9600 GSO's (I sold the PSU).
It is a decent PSU, but for the price, there are better choices.
