Anti Vir doesn't listen to me!

440 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  stumped
This antivirus keeps popping up whilst in game, therefore closing the game and asking me what i would like to do with the file it has found. Only pops up whilst playing MW2 so guess it's a false positive. I click ignore, then "remember this action for this type of file" but it will just pop up again couple hours later. How do I fix it?

any suggestions?

Has it got an option to remember your choice permenantly or can you make an exception for MW2 in Anti Vir's settings?
I believe you can set it to ignore using the Antivir control panel. I had the same issue with a L4D2 file.
i sense something about your MW2 .exe file, are you using a no-cd option at all? The reason i ask about the no-cd thing, is antivir sometimes thinks the no-cd options are backdoor trojans.

also, go into antivir settings and tell antivir not to look in the MW2 folder. it will then stop popping up.

A lot of the time the no-cd cracks HAVE backdoor trojans
. Also remember a virus from somewhere else can infect a normally safe exe file, so that this will happen and you will select allow on your AV, thinking false positive.

I am NOT using any Cd cracks for MW2. It's on my Steam so i don't need to. I'll try poking around through settings to allow it as an exception. It does have a "remember this answer" button by it just asks me again anyway.
yeah, you have to set the MW2 folder location as an exception in the scanning configuration.
