okay, so i'm trying to build a computer within a $1500 limit that i would hope to have done by january. it's going to be a desktop in my room so i'm going to be migrating there for the winter. i'm looking for that median between performance and space, i've been looking at a lot of different parts and i only have very few things set that i know i want in my computer and a few things i'd like help with:

1. deffinitly an intel core 2 duo
2. one Gb ram cards with spare ram slots (found some on newegg)
3. hopefully with the case i'm looking at i'm gonna have about 9 hd slots so i'm hoping about 1 terrabyte of space.

this is totally open for suggestions. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Hiya

IMHO I would go w/ the 6600 for the additional L2 cache over the Allendales

Uncertain what you mean by #2 "spare RAM slots", but 2 x 1GB is nice with G-
Skill, Corsair or Patriot PC2 6400

hmmm... 1 terrabyte...dat's alot!? - Watcha doin with it?

let me just say that after buiding it i don't plan on upgrading the space for years, and i'm going to be almost totally converting from a console gamer to a pc gamer because of easier online access, which requires more space, plus insert dling lots of shows, series, movies, etc., sssooooo yeah.

i would go for an xt version of the x1900 series, instead of the xtx.

the xtx is only slightly higher clocked and costs more than the xt.

Also dx10 will render all dx9 cards obsolete soon, so if you buy now you wont be able to play dx10 very well in the future ( dx10 can be emulated on dx9 cards, its suposed to be very poorly done though )

since u re buying in january, and u mentioned that u do not plan to upgrade it in near future, the GeForce 8 would be my pick, as it can support DX10, but check out the price before hopping in, cuz it may not come cheap....
