About the Mod

The Worry of Newport is a Lovecraftian Horror/Mystery written by myself and developed by Dark Craft Studios. TWON is a story-first mod that has been praised by the likes of ModInformer, ModSentry, RockPaperShotgun and Kotaku. Within the Lovecraftian subgenre of horror, it aims to show players a story of cosmic importance, of otherworldly alien gods, and of a tragic love and death story between a man and his wife within the occult, all interwoven by the narrative of a man with amnesia wondering the ruined post-disaster island of Newport.

Worry of Newport is, as such, an artistic and slow-burning horror story. It is literary focused, with tons of book pages and dialog, and has highly detailed imagery and surroundings. There is no combat, or monsters, or any sort of puzzles or filler. It is a very unique experience, aggregated to a 93/100 rating on Moddb after 55 reviews.

Asset Credits:

We use a very enormous and lengthy list of assets from the now defunct crymod.com, and as such, have lost any and all ability to properly sort, order and publish a credits list. If you notice your asset in our mod, simply PM me here and you will be added to the still-being-compiled credits list.

If you would like your asset removed for any reason or purpose, PM me as well and a hotfix patch will be released moments later.

User FAQ

Q: What do I need to play this?

A: You need to install Crysis and patch to 1.21. Warhead is not supported.

Q: Is it optimized? Crysis runs on medium on my computer
A: Yes, it is very well optimized and is quite linear as well. Expect it to run well.

Q: How long is the mod?
A: Three hours combining both parts.

Thanks! Indeed it is. Part 1 can be found on the moddb link above, either through a manual install or a Desura install, which is basically Steam for mods.

Part 2 is under development through a team of eight and will be released June 1st.

Omg this looks amazing. I had no idea this existed
I didn't know about this mod. Looks very interesting. I will definitely have to check it out once I get home in the morning.

sent from my Captivate running Cognition4.3
Wow, thanks for the warm reception already guys.

Indeed, a lot of people don't know about mods like this for anything that isn't Half Life 2, really. But a good number of teams love Crysis for how useful and polished Sandbox 2 is.

just installed and had a very quick play and WOW

Massive immersion, kick ass graphics (dare I say some of the best I have ever seen) and the start to a great story.

One small complaint, during my walk up the pier towards the beach I was marveling at the rain drops rippling on the already wet decking, after I got past a couple of these loose piers I noticed one section that didn't have this effect???

Like I say, very small complaint

I'll pay u 20 bux to figure out how to bring the Crysis 1 MP animations to Crysis Wars, mr. total conversion mod.
Downloading this now. Desura is cool but it really needs a search bar. Anyway, I'm a big Lovecraft fan so I've gotta try this out.

I should warn you guys, saving does NOT work in Crysis mods like this without tons of scripting I did not know how to do. Part 1 is 35-40 minutes long, so I recommend one playthrough or alt tabbing for breaks.

Part 2 will allow saving just fine. And, yes, there are a few visual inconsistencies throughout but mostly the graphics are really quite good and optimized.

You can't, long story short.

Long story is if you could, I don't know how. I write, map, mod and lead this project. I don't do any of the coding or scripting or animating/modelling.

I've just saved and reloaded fine? the only thing I had to do was rename my save which it gave me an option to.

Have you picked up a book yet? Thats when the saving issues start, the texture reappears for the pages and cannot be removed if you save and reload.

I saved before the first book and loaded, read the book. had a little trouble getting rid of the page but found hitting 'F' to drop the book and then hitting it again fixed it.

I'll try and reload again and see what happens.

Edit: yep, have the page stuck to my face now, oh well, 45mins play through is alright anyhow.
