Any one has experience with this type of cooling system on 4890?

Searching newegg I found this 4890 with good price:

But the cooling system on it seems a little bit odd. Any one has idea whether this type of cooling is good or bad?

Thank you!

It's "supposed" to be better. But it looks like they skimped on the VRM cooling. IDK how much that matters on that non-reference PCB design, but I've seen that same PCB w/ a VRM cooler.

I'd get this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102841
I've heard that theres a mounting problem with that heatsink since theres no backplate and it can run extremely hot.

That.

The backplate used is inadequate for it.

I really don't feel a backplaate is at all necessary for that card for pressure or PCB cooling purposes, when have you heard of the 4890 being incredibly hot period.

also heatpipes and the open cooling design is supposed to cool the GPu better (which i've read that card actually does) the only problem is it blows all the warm air into your case opposed to reference back slot blower designs

That particular msi model does really have an inadequate backplate for the cooler.
