Alright, I have heard that the sound blaster x-fi increases performance of games ever so slightly on a not so out dated rig. What if you set it up in a rig that has had no upgrades for almost 2 years? Well I am building my mom a new computer and I ordered one for her since she wants to watch movies and play mp3s. I am going to use it on my system, see my rig to know how old it is (socket A baby), and test it during game play to see if it makes any difference. I will keep anyone interested posted.

Well the X-Fi would process all the sound files so it takes a bit of load off the CPU and that allows the CPU to do other stuff. Won't be a really big difference unless you play games on the highest audio settings.
