for example, i can't seem to take pictures of small text like the ones found on a cpu processor. I'm using a nikon coolpix s300 for reference. the pictures always turn out way too blurry.

Macro Mode! It's the option/feature that uses the flower icon.


I'm sorry, I just love macro pics.

what they said. macro function is great. comes out really nice n sharp. can focus up really close

1/2 hold the shutter and wait for it to focus. if it doesnt (usually a red box instead of a green box) back up a bit then try again. even without macro mode, you should be able to get a picture clean enough to see whats written on the CPU.

Keep in mind that when you focus closely, you will be blocking out a lot of light from hitting your subject. So, in addition to using the macro mode, try taking the picture somewhere where there is a lot of light. Windows work well, and provide a nice soft light.
