any way to bypass the login screen?

So i restarted my computer to get a new piece of software to work after the install (windows blinds). I notice there is a windows update to be installed during shut down, but instead I elect to just hit reset. I step away for a min, and come back to the welcome screen, with no user names to choose. I'm the only account on the computer and i never see that screen anyway (1 account, no pw).
I tried safe mode and several restarts and i get stuck at the same screen.
Now i'm not going to sleep well with a huge computer issue on hand.

well i booted up to try your idea crazy-
and i got a message before even seeing that screen:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\\windows\\system32\\config\\system

looks like i gotta run repair off the install disk....

this thread may have become pointless in about 5 min.
i wanted to avoid doing a reinstall/repair
Sounds like something messed up, could it be a virus that you downloaded?

Good luck either way
using repair on the windows install disk didn't fix it.
had to do a complete reinstall of windows.
fortunately 90% of my stuff is on my 2nd drive and not affected, but it's still a pain to reinstall things to get them to work and update drivers, windows, etc.
sorry
.

don't install that software next time...
