I've made a few grand the past 6 months selling computers. I'm waiting on a few CPU and motherboards and cases but should have 5 or 6 PC to sell during the stimulus
Of course I have the CPU but not the motherboards and I have the low end motherboards but not the CPU

So your the one buying up all the stock everywhere and leaving nothing for us :) jk
Unfortunately its hard to get parts. Before corona I was spending $300-450 and selling $550 to $600. Now I just buy new since used is so over priced as well as the new. Here are the setups I should have:

R5 3600 + B450M Pro 4 + 16gb 3600 + 512 nvme + rtx 2060 +EVGA 700w ($1000)
R3 3100 + B450M DS3H + 16gb 3200 + 512 SSD + rx580 + EVGA 450 (been selling the 1600af with this setup for $750 so probably ask the same)
R5 1600 + B450M DS3H + 16gb 3200 + 512 SSD + rx580 + EVGA 450 ($750)
R3 3200g + a320 + 16gb 3000 + 512 ssd + EVGA 450 ($450)
Athlon 3000g + a320 + 8gb + 240 ssd +EVGA 450 ($325)

Probably do something like:
32 gb 3200 $70
32 gb 3600 $75
512gb ssd $60 additional
580 to 5700 $300

This is very interesting.
But *Who* exactly do you sell it to to begin with?
And how do you find people to sell stuff to, if for example, you (in a general term, not "YOU") don't have a car/vehicle?
And where are you getting the power supplies from? :)

I'm assuming you're basically doing what amounts to an old school "Falcon Northwest" or "Alienware" (in their infancy) type of operation....

Facebook Marketplace and word of mouth. Sold one on FB marketplace to a guy who told his coworker who's dad and uncle and another coworker bought from me.

I bought 4 600w PSU from EVGA b stock last night:

With online school being about mandatory and stimulus giving more disposable income i've sold PC farily easily. Last one I sold for $750 I had sold one like it and had parts and hadn't even posted it and someone asked if I had another and I said "as a matter of fact I do will be ready in a couple hours"

Been putting Windows 10 Pro and using command line activation for the OS

buying/selling/trading is supposed to take place in the market place no?

low cost decent spec'd stuff definitely sells quickly on the 2nd hand market these days. OEM or custom.

Hmm interesting. What kind of margin are you making from doing this?

I got pretty involved with stocks during this time and I've done well there. I tried buying new part to sell as a new PC before, a long time ago, and it worked but the margin was very low and didn't feel worth it at the time.

It's such a hassle selling used stuff (because of low ballers) especially now since everyone is broke. I recently sold off a few things online and just caved into the low ballers because they didn't want to spend an extra $10 or $20.

Is this like a side hustle of yours? I've been seeing a lot of ads lately for people offering to build custom PC's on Facebook and whatnot. I thought about doing it too but I'd hate to deal with complaints if any of the PC's came back defective after a few weeks or months.

I deal with all new parts and advertise as 1+ years parts warranty.

I can easily RMA anything that acts up.

I live in a very rural part of KY. There are no true large businesses.

Yeah i've had to use a320 and I hate them. Not even a fan of the B450M DS3H for $83

And disappointed in the B450M Pro 4 (wont even run 3600 mhz ram above 2133)

I would be doing this, but there is no market for it on the tiny island I currently live on. The first PC I tried selling locally I ended up trading for a DJI drone and the other I decided to give to my sister. Had plenty of people asking me to part out or for advice building, but nobody wanted fully assembled systems.

When I was in college I had a lot better luck with flipping whole builds to people.
