Its working fine for me but then again I'm in Europe so probably different servers for the client.

http://store.steampowered.com/ works to without any issues and that should be on your side of the pond.

When I hit any of my games icon I am forced to update. So the update begins and it is slow. I did a speed test on my line and my results are 25 mbps so my internet is good. About 1500kb into the download I get a window "STEAM- FATAL ERROR steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm your network connection and try again. " What could be causing this?

Hmm...must be a corrupted install, have you tried re-installing Steam if it's possible?

No your progress on CoD games stays, as its saved in "The cloud"

But if you didn't move your steamapps folder out when re-installing Steam... All your games would be gone.

AFAIK Steam is a Game Client and when you un-install Steam it just removes all it's program files and that is just for Steam and your games will be fine...AFAIK...I have never done it before. I have Anno 2070 and I have a butt load of hours played and didn't want my saved games to be removed so I copied all folders and files related to Anno 2070, did a fresh OS install (due to motherboard/CPU upgrade) and put all my files back to the original folders for Anno 2070 and they did work again.

I'm not sure I can say the same for COD though...

wow, just tried to install steam and I get a network error. I cant upgrade, cant play and cant even install! What could be going on? I just added this to my network, could it be causing me problems?

I basically did a plug and play and didnt mod or change anything on settings. I did hardwired pc with cat6 cables. I still dont think this would cause issues... or would it?

Have the same Steam issue and error messages. No resolution yet.

XBOX360, PS3, laptop, other PC, etc, all connect to internet with no problem. Internet connects with no issues on the PC that Steam will not work on.

Let me know if you get yours working.

Thanks.

So I installed steam and then I see a list of all of my games. I began to download call of duty 3 and it is downloading. My question is, it is downloading at 1.9mbps...why so slow? This will take all night at this pace. I get 25 mbps when I conduct a speedtest so why is steam so slow?
