as i am lead to believe that 1600 - 1866 is ideal for sandy bridge and ivy bridge.. anything more is not worth the price as little performance gains

yeah, thats the thing about Ivy bridge and 7-series boards as they can run RAM at blistering clocks.... one day that will be beneficial too and the prices will drop.. would love to see benches of such RAM from actual users on OCN would be nice

Well, i'm in the boat for 2x8gb because I would like to upgrade later...however the prices are a bit unfriendly at the time being

anayway the $99 sticks are pretty good value, even tho i believe the speed is overkil, they seem to be good value.. you could even tighten the timings and downclock them and compare bench results at different speeds and timings

the other sets prob higher binned and ran at the specs they wanted. more than likely the same design in both
