Anyone try XTRACK mouse pads?

I just ordered a XTRAC PADS XTRAC ZOOM V2 Mouse Pad for 12$ off newegg. Basically I was ordering the computer tool kit and a 2gb g-skill ram kit for my netbook so I figured I'm paying for shipping why not try this out. So I decided to order this for my Xai since it was cheap and so that I could see the difference between cloth and hard pads.

Some of the newegg product reviews said that it would move around on the desk. I plan on puting it right on top of my Qck.

Personally I think the steelseries 4HD and 9HD are a bit overpriced, even though they are probably nice products.

I just never heard of XTRAC and I was wondering if anyone on OCN had any experience with their products and what I can expect quality wise.

Heres a link.

XTRAC make quality pads, but, just as most cloth mousepads, they fray over time. Singe the edges delicately with a flame when this happens and do your best to keep it clean because the washing machine can **** it up as well.

I've never had any experience with their "hard" pads, but imagine they still have a fabric backing.

I've used some of their hard pads. and I think I may even have that same one stashed somewhere in my house.

they aren't bad at all, except they tend to "walk" around your desk if you palm your mouse. the thickness (or rather lack thereof) is nice for fitting on the desk, but makes them light enough that my hand literally moves the thing around after a while. Another thing relating to that is the edges have a tendency to ride up/curl up if it keeps running into things. other than those, I have no complaints.

I've since moved onto a generic hard pad I got from a vendor at work that stays put but is thicker

Ya I figure if I put the pad on top of my Qck pad it wont move around much. That and I generally finger my mouse.

In any case I don't think 12$ was a bad price.
I have the Xtrak Zoom pad and it is AWFUL. It does not stick to the desk so I had to tape it down with electrical tape. It is not easy to make micro movements on the pad because it is not slick enough, and it ends up with black goo spots all over it and your mouse feet after a week of use and has to be throughly cleaned. And lastly the thing starts to come apart at the edges after a few months. They are shoddy at best.

Is there a difference between the Zoom and the Zoom v2?

Anyway if this doesn't do the trick I will probably just buy an aluminum pad.

I honestly don't know. I don't think theres any way to tell what pad you have, and I got mine for free from the LAN center I used to work at, so I didn't order mine.

It said on the link that it was a V2 that I ordered. I couldn't find any info about what differences it might have. But the problems you are having with it seam very serious, its possible they realized what was wrong with it and tried to fix it up a bit.

I can tell you if I get globs of black crap on my Xai I will not be very happy at all.

I use the Xtrac Ripper and I'm quite happy with it. It's a quality pad at an affordable price. I've had mine for about 2 years and right where my wrist sits it has frayed just slightly. Pretty normal wear and tear though.

I am pretty sure the globs of stuff were the coating on the surface of the pad wearing off on the mouse feet with use. It happened to both my mice... Razer Lachesis and my later Logitech G500. I would habitually clean the whole mousepad and the mouse feet once a week with rubbing alcohol to get rid of it. After switching to a cheap BestBuy Rocketfish mousepad I have had no issues whatsoever, and no build up like I was having before, so I know it came from that mousepad.

Ya I got it and it felt sticky. I wiped it off with a wet nap. I will see if I get globs of black crap in a week.

The Xtrac Hybrid is an amazing mouse pad. It's flexible like a cloth pad, but slicker than cloth.
