AOL is screwing me.

Not really their fault, but the aren't helping any. A little less than ten years back I would say, our family got an AOL dial up account. Had this for a few years, then went Broadband with Road Runner from Time Warner Cable.

They had this offer, where you signed up for broadband with Road Runner and got AOL with it for free, so all of our accounts were in tact and the same and everything. Now, there was a virus (technical term could be different, but you get the idea) going around a few days ago, where you would IM everyone on your buddy list with a link talking about pictures. When clicked, it would automatically download a virus.

Now I would be the first to admit if I did actually click on the link, but I swear I didn't. I already did a virus scan, Malwarebytes scan, and my friend did some other ones like clamwin and adaware I believe. Thing is, I was sending the messages out.

The point of this post----> I need to change my AIM screen name password, but since I made my account years ago, I cannot remember my account security question. When I go to enter the personal info that was on the account, it doesn't work because I no longer have an account with them. I called, went through the automated thing up until the security question. Then I got told that I would have to speak to an actual person to fix it, but I don't have that on my account.

So my question is, how else can I change my password or delete my account?

Do you still want the account? If not, just stop paying for it. They will in turn terminate it for you. I hope that didn't come out sarcastic. If you still want the account trying to accomplish something with them over the phone, in the situation you are in is probably going to be an ordeal, which will probably end in you being very un-happy.

I now use AIM and firefox, amongst other IM clients but that's not the point lol. I don't use AOL. This is one of the reasons I can't talk to a real person at AOL, I don't have an account as in using AOL software, I just have the email accounts if that makes sense.

EDIT: I doubt anyone else will run into something like this, but you never know so I figured I'd say I "solved" it lol. I was using my linux partition one day, and decided to use Gaim. And whattya know, I could change my password right there lol. Thanks for trying guys.
