Huh?
I'm not really into this, but as far as I know BD will only work on AM3+ and AM3 chips will work on AM3+.
Oh, interesting, wasn't aware of that. In that case I wouldn't worry OP. Even if the option happens to cease, you can complain and get a new board. Assuming your board was advertised with AM3+ compability.Originally Posted by Shomiyamu!;13017936

MSI is doing it too I think.
Dunno how a simple bios update will allow it to work.
hopefully gigabyte does itOriginally Posted by Stefy;13017967

I agree with the last part, though no one knows for sure. Asus,MSI,and other motherboard manufactures are either doing it for sales,or they have info from AMD that AM3 does support BD. It's all a confusing mess right now,AMD needs to clear this up ASAP.Originally Posted by Shomiyamu!;13017936

AMD has made their position very clear and it has never changed. Bulldozer Cpu's will be supported on AM3+ motherboards ONLY. Just look at the Bulldozer sticky and look at JF-AMD posts about this question.Originally Posted by Heavy MG;13018034

It's a huge achievement if Asus can get a AM3+ CPU to fit in a AM3 socket, when AMD says it cannot. Maybe every brand of certain AM3 boards can use AM3+,some have chosen not to create a BIOS mod?Originally Posted by Shomiyamu!;13018279

Hopefully :S
Though,i doubt it.... they most likely would've done it by now.
Cool, but many have said to stay away from the current MSI boards because of weak VRM's. They aren't great it you run much more than stock.Originally Posted by Shomiyamu!;13018432

YES!!! Gigabyte PLLZZZZZ make a bios for your motherboards!!!!1
I was really considering a Asus 890GX mobo, but i saved about $15-20 or so with the Gigabyte one. Worth saving a few bucks? We'll see.
Meh,i'd rather have a full featured BD 9xx board, then lose some nice features and hold the CPU back with a AM3 motherboard. Then again it would be nice to save $150-200 by not having to buy a new mobo until i really want a 9xx one.Originally Posted by Shomiyamu!;13018563

Yeah, but I think Gigabyte will pull through and add support.Originally Posted by Heavy MG;13018607

How many watts does your current CPU consume? The 880GMA-UD2H doesn't have heatsinks over the VRM's that i recall,so if Gigabyte would put out a BIOS,that mobo might not be supported, i noticed this with the cheaper Asus and MSI ones.BD is much more powerful, i assume it may work better with cooled VRM's and more phases. I like mATX as well, but $30 more for ATX with possibility to Crossfire was hard to pass up at the time.Originally Posted by Shomiyamu!;13018641

Kinda lame on my end cause I like mATX boards.
It's 125w certified and the high end 8-cores are supposed to be 125w.Originally Posted by Heavy MG;13018832
