Hi OCN
I'm new to the forum, and i have a problem.
My computer won't boot, and the vga_led on my mobo lights up.
if i take out the GPUs and use the onboard graphics it works just fine.

here's my rig:
Hardware:
MAXIMUS V FORMULA - ROG - ASUS
Intel® Core i5-2500K
Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL8
Corsair 1200i PSU
2x Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 crossfire

watercooling:
2x EK FC-7970 Nickel/Acetal Nickel/Plexi GPU blokker
Koolance RP-452X2 REV2 pump/res

i've gotten a bunch of q-code / error codes:
A0, A3, 72, 94

Any help will be appreciated =)

edit: running at stock
works when using other GPU's

Have you tried each card separately? Maybe one of them is causing it. Regarding the Q Codes, check your motherboard's manual for more information.

A0 - IDE initialization started (normal)
A3 - IDE enable (normal)
72 - PCH devices initialization (Try Clearing the CMOS on your board, have you recently installed any new HDD's or SDD's?)
94 - PCI Bus Enumeration

I believe that your crossfire bridge may be broken. Also, have you installed all of the latest drivers for your motherboard and the latest BIOS version for the MVF?

Also, before you do any of that, disconnect the USB 3.0 header that goes to your case. That may be the problem because it shares bandwith with the PCI-e 16x slot.

Lastly, are you running any overclocks? IF you are then you should clear the CMOS and see if that helps.

Hi RavageTheEarth, thanks for the reply =D

i havn't changed any hdd's/ssd's per se, but i've changed mobo (because i though that was the problem)
at this point i'm just trying to get into bios, so i havn't connected any hdds.

i think i might have another crossfire brigde laying around somewhere, gonna try that.
i've installed the latest bios, but not all drivers.
i have no usb 3,0 running to the case atm.
i've cleared cmos, and running at stock. (it's been overclocked before, but that's a while back)

You dont need a crossfire bridge to boot with your gpus. The bridge/s wont be a factor till you are able to install drivers and enable crossfire. Since you can't boot... you can't even get to the step yet.

I'm curious, were your cards working before you installed the waterblocks?

Watercooled plus suddenly stopped working... unfortunately that is not unexpected when dealing with water. You should remove the blocks and inspect your cards. Look at it closely, smell it, etc... Cards when watercooled do not die, they usually last forever but when one dies suddenly it's usually not by chance and because of a water related issue, ie. a leak, slow leak etc. It's not unusual for ppl not to catch the leak for weeks, months later, so I would start looking for any evidence in that direction.

Yep tsm is correct. Also try one card at a time. Id remove all the water cooling stuff. I know its a pain in the butt, but it will come in handy because most likely you are going to have to take the cards out multiple times.

Keep us updated! I know how aggravating stuff like this can be, but you will eventually get it sorted out. Just remember to take breaks when you get aggravated because you will end up doing something without thinking and make the problem worse.

If you're using any other PCI/PCI-E card on your rig it may also be interfering. I had the same issue with a soundcard on my RIIIE and my 7950+7970 setup, the VGA_LED was the one thing on. I removed it, and the computer booted as if nothing happened.

Also, running one card at a time is recommended. While doing that, follow tsm's advice and look out for leaks on the blocks.

well i have a ASUS Xonar Essence STX.
but i've removed that and it doesn't make a diffrence.

i've tried to use one of my older 5850 and it works fine then.

the next step is test the GPU's separately, (but i havn't had enough time to do that yet)
