Are these fans any good for my rad?

hey!

So I want some new fans to my watercooling, but sadly we have a VERY limited choice when it comes to 38mm thick fans here in Norway..

So a friend of my found this fans:

http://www.chieftec.com/fan.html its the one to the bottom.

Specs:

Model: Chieftec AF-062B
120x120x38mm
12v
1700rpm
54CFM

So will this be any good at all for my rads?
I have some crap 120mm fans now, and I have heard that 38mm thick fans will push the air through much better than normal 25mm`s.

Thanks for any help

what kind of radiator do you have? 54CFM seems low to me, too low. It really depends on your rad though and how many fins per inch it has.

yes, 120x38mm have higher static pressure (pushes air forward instead of sideways)... this helps with the dense structure of radiators

HOWEVER, 52CFM is fairly low for a 38mm fan and you won't get the sort of cooling you're looking for... I would suggest a 70CFM minimum... some people get higher ones ( 110ish CFM) but these require a fan controller to make them bearable

I have a 360 & 240 HW-Labs Black Ice extreme (note not the GTX version), so this fans will not do at all?

Nah afraid these fans wont really cut it, the fins on the hwlabs rads are really tightly packed so need powerful fans with high static pressure..if you had a Pa 120.3 those fans would do..but your going to need some higher powered fans..some 38mm thick fans would be nice such as the scythe ultra Kaze medium speed.

actually hold on a sec I have the BIX 360 and the fins are NOT that tight at all =P Dont mean to contradict you or be rude. But I was even told by IRA these rads dont really need high CFM, but still 50CFM is still too low. Like it was previously stated, 70CFM minimum.

I have antec Tri fans and at their high setting it keep my CPU about 10-15C above ambient. Its usually 70-80F in my room and the CPU idles at about 36-39C. Oh btw the high settings is like 70ish CFM

I also had to ghetto mount my rad ontop of a cardboark box that it came in because the screws it shipped with do not match the rad lol. Super annoying to say the least.
I highly recommend going High cfm fans on the 360 Rad, As the 360 rad has higher fins per inch which will yield better performance using a 38mm thick fan..

You want at least some 86cfm Pana on a BIX..86cfm Pana ..These would be better..Panaflo 120x38mm 115cfm ..There what I use on my GTX and BIX...120x38mm fans have higher pressure and will give you better performance on higher fin per inch rads..

Shrouds help a lot to, on any rad...

I was hoping to see you ira
Good post as always! how do you do this?

Anyways, if I want the Pana fans, I must get them from the US, will it be worth it?
Also is there any good pre-built shrouds that you can buy out there?

Thanks again

...You could do a push-pull with those fans you linked and have a killer set-up..

But how much of a load is on your rad? If you just have a CPU and maybe one GPU those lower cfm fans might be all right..You could even just try them on one side first and only do the other side if you have to..I wouldn't pay a lot of shipping on them, its not worth it..

Shrouds are hard to find other then making your own, even gutted 120x25mm fans will do a lot of good if thats all you can find, I've used them from 1/2-1.5" and they all helped...

They have these that you might be able to find there.Feser TFC Xtender - Radiator Shroud 120 - BLUE LED ..I wouldn't spend that much on one myself, just gut a 25mm instead...

Can you not find any higher cfm Papst fans there? A friend of mine used to like those and I think they were 80 something cfm...

Lets not beat around the bush here...

Drop some shrouds and some high CFM Delta's on them and hear it get cooled.

thanks! I only have cpu right now, and when my 4870x2 comes back from rma it will come in to
other than that, nothing! So maybe I should get some papst fans instead then?

If you can find some decent cfm ones, say 80+cfm, 120x38 would be better on a BIX to..Or if all else fails you can do a push-pull with the lower cfm fans, that will bounce your cooling potential on up quite a bit..I just hate to see you pay for shipping from the States, this stuff is expensive the way it is, add all that shipping onto it and its just crazy..

If you don't mind paying for shipping these are the rad fans I use..Panaflo 120x38mm 115cfm..Those Delta By-Tor linked to are good to...Neither one are pacticualry quiet, but they work well..

ok
I might order some Papst 80+ cfm and cut my old fans to make shrouds! think this will work good?

Yeah Buddy that should be at least pretty decent cooling, using those shrouds really help to..
so how much will my temps decrease do you think ira? If I use shrouds?
