I'm thinking to buy a new radiator and a new set of fans for my rad. I was using three 1450RPM scythe gentle typhoon with a Thermochill TA120.3 radiator but due to me damaging the rad and using the fans for something else I decided to get this radiator:

Now for the fans I dunno if I should buy three-six gentle typhoon again or buy six scythe s-flex 1600RPM:

Noise doesn't really matter to me but by buying the s-flex I'll save around $3 each, the question is how good will it perform. Better or worst than the gentle typhoon?

I know the test is on a different rad (MCR120), but check out the results of Martin's Round 6 test. The S-Flex fans are decent fans, they loose out a little to the GT AP-15s in CFM and of course noise level. Here is what Martin had to say on them:

NOISE LEVEL
About average, a little worse than the yate medium down low and a little better up top.

NOISE QUALITY
Good except for 7V had a little bit of resonance. No obvious motor ticks, etc...a fairly clean sound with a bit of blade chop at higher speeds. Generally good though.

EFFICIENCY
Very good efficiency, substantially better than the yate medium only using 1 watt at 12V...that's very very good.

RANGE
Very good range from 400-1600RPM with overall good performance with the exception of the minor resonance at 7V.

OVERALL
A good all around fan, about average noise level with pretty good sound quality and a good RPM range.

I had a pair of those S-Flexes on a Megahalems awhile back, and I HATED the motor noise. Sort of a high pitched buzzing sound that easily stood out over everything else in my case. Others don't seem to share my opinion, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

I actually had those fans and I share the same opinion as sch010, the motor did some annoying noise

I'd look at some other fans, or wait until Gentle Typhoon 1850RPM are back on stock, they're definitely worth it

I used the s-flex E,F, and G's. Of which I noticed that they were just slightly louder than the ap-15s that I currently have.

Gotta say I would stick with the ap-15s if you can. If someone gave me the S-Flex, though, I wouldn't NOT use them.

I had the 1600 RPM fans. They are very quiet, aside from the horrible motor noise. Like I said, though, some people seem not to notice it at all, so you might be fine.
