Are These Temps alright?

I have a zalman CNPS 9700 LED with AS5 and right now i am getting temps of 26c at stock everything with my e8400. That is around 5 degrees above ambient. Is this the best i can get out of my cooler or can i get my temps any better?
Any help is appreciated

Idle temps mean nothing, you should check your load temps as that is what you need to make sure are safe. The 9700 is a sub par cooler but if your load temps are in check then you have nothing to worry about. Run Prime95 and check temps with Coretemp and get back to us.

In reality if you check the Intel CPU forum for what the max temps are for the 8400 you would be better off. However if they determine you are looking a little high them come back and we can get set you on the right track for a better cooling setup.

Best of luck!

EDIT: Just did a quick look anything under 60c during full load is stellar even overclocked.

alright the ambient is 21c and load is around 42c
I guess i was just wondering if there was anything that you know about that can make this cooler's temps better i.e. mods and is 20c above ambient good for air cooling?

42c load is great and ready for overclock! 20c ambient sounds just about right. If your looking for general help on your air cooling then by all means check out my sticky guide. All kinds of info to help your temps and give you tips on everything that is air cooling.

Hope it helps you

I run the same cooler on my 8400, works fine for it. Idle is nothing, I dont think mine ever idles below 39c. Load is fine, even with overclock I barely see 60s
