Are we being deprived of anything?

Looking over the 775 socket cpu's offered by Newegg are we being deprived of any choices that we previously had? (of course no Q6600's). Is Newegg covering the 775 market enough to satisfy most?

I like to find value in "last years model" and there still is plenty of performance to be realised in 775 hardware (or so I think).

Well of course they are pushing towards i7 boards, but there is still quite a bit to be had in the lga 775 section.
Don't forget the Q9550.

Which cpu could be said to be the Q6600's replacement? Is ebay the place to go to for Q6600's? Perhaps someone knows of a retailer. Always that Intel preminum even if it's not their current model, is this the way its always been?
the 9550 would be a good replacement for a q6600.
