well first of all here is the offical site for the board

http://www.asrock.com/product/939Dual-SATA2.htm

the review by ocworkbench
great

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asro...l-SATA2/g1.htm

the offical bioses

im so enoyed with ocbeta 1 i can be on the internet and watching a video of youtube and it restarts grrrr

http://www.asrock.com/support/index_download.asp

overclockers ones (BETA )

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asro...s/betabios.htm

the best bioses to yous are the offical 1.20 and beta's 1 and 2 the rest have a ht lock at 274
. somtimes there are problems with 1.2 and u cant get above 248 like me so i flashed mine to beta 1 and i have gotten over 300
ts good but somtimes "ie" most of the time when you restart the pc it goes back to normal settings when the ht is to high

When upping the ht dont jump from 200 to 300 start at 230 then start pc up look at cpu-z then restart up it to 40 and go up in 10s or 5s restarting the machine every time
will work and when it dosnt start reset the bios
[/U][/B]

DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL V1.90 I HAVE JUST TRYED IT OUT AND ITS GREAT NO LOCKS I DONT THINK I GOT TO 300 BEFORE I NEEDED TO NOCK THE MULTI DOWN TO 7X AND IT WOULD START SO RESET THE BIOS :] ILL TRY SEE IF I CAN GET HIGHER .
this bios is great it is alot safer and stable than the beta ones and oc ones :] and is very simple do update instead of making a boot disk u just use the bios reflash they give u does everything its self great :] use it

my cpu-z below
Attachment 21233

my guide on how to reset the bios

Attachment 21235

ocworck bench got theres up to 349ht i didnt try because i didnt want to lower my multi because i had i herd roomers that the multiypliers were buged from 8x dowm but ill def try it when i get some new as5

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asro...conclusion.htm

NOW THE MODS

THE VCORE MOD 1.55v when set at 1.50 in bios

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asro...emodguide1.htm

THE VDIM MOD

http://www.ocworkbench.com/2005/asro...mmodguide1.htm

the vcore mod is very easy to do and if you have handled a soldering iron before all the better . I would advice that you remove the hsf bracket that comes with the board to do THE MOD , because it makes it that little bit easier . I have heard a few people have melted bits of it when doing it . you can do it inside or outside of the case and outside is the better options as there is more room to move about .but if your like me and want it done fast to get it going then keep it in the case . it only took me 5 mins to do it once i got the hsf of also i will include my guide on how i done it once i get my camera

MEMORY = As far as memory options go with this board the higest vdim you can get stantard is 2.7v (high).
There have been some issues with the board and dosnt alow people to use 1t as the man says below. but i have had 1t settings before. but for stababilty i changed it to 2t lol

HTT . the htt has diffrent names for this board the
5x is (1000mhz)
4x is (800mhz)
3x is (600mhz)

In this area of the bios you have the choice to choose between 8bit and 16 bit you should set it to 16bit

GRAPHICS well there arent many options but one you should stay away from is agp fastwrite it makes my screen flash for some reason

when using a ocbios when u reset the bios the sound and usb ports are disablled so make sure you enable them it is rather enoying starting it up with no sound or keboard and mouse

also here is a guide and some programs u should use for overclocking all made by me :]

this is the settings u can try out first when u first get this mobo no matter the chip :]

first u want to lower the full mobo fsb thing lol to below 1000mhz it must not go above 1000mhz or pc becomes unstable so lower it to x4/800mhz in this case also for smooth transfer rate make each of the bridges 16bit so

settings

800mhz/16bit sb and nb :]

next u want to make the cpu run sepratly to the pci card so change this setting to aysnc :] know go down a bit and disable cool and quiet because it will kill the overclock

know depending on the chip will depened on the multiplyer in my case i have a 3200+ so mine is x10

so change this option from auto to manual and keep the multiplyer at stock
then put the vcore of the cpu to 1.45v

setting

multiplyer at stock 8x9x10x11x12x what ever yours is
vcore 1.45v or if u have carried out the vmod 1.150v :] for 1.55v

next u want to change your memory divider so that it dosnt slow the clock down change it to 166 :]

know the bit were the overclock starts go to the ht/fsb and up it to 220 this will give u a faster clock now save and load up the pc and if it boots which it should your fine "heart stops pounding" lol if not switch of at wall leave for 10sec switch back on :] but it will so dont worry lol
if all elese fail rest the bios guide up there ^^

know u need to test the pc to make sure that it is stable download some of these programes

prime95
occt
cpu-z
aida32

http://www.short-media.com/download.php?dc=72

this is a great link that has all the programmes u will need apart from aida32

which u can get here :} http://www.majorgeeks.com/download181.html

know test the pc with occt run the test "only takes 30mins " if it dosnt fail which it shouldnt up the fsb another 5mhz load up if loads up it anthother 5mhz then test it on prime95 for 10 mins no erros up it again :} and continue untill u get an error and back off 5mhz and u know have the overclock :} also by carrying out the vmod ,it will allow u to obtain a higher overclock but more heat will be produced so need good cooling

reasons for pc being unstable or freezing

if your psu is not up to the job this is the main and giant reason so make sure its up to scratch mines isnt :[ anything over 500w for your average gaming pc will do fine make sure it has like over 25a on the 12v rail(s) anything above 30a is great . top end fx60 1900xtx etx get 600w and up but u wont have this board would u lol :}

how to make a boot cd to change the bios i took this from protius :}

1. Unzip file.
2. Burn it onto a blank CD using Nero, or Roxio etc. cd-rw disc preferred.
3. Stick it in your cd drive and reboot your computer.
4. Press F11 on post screen to select your cd drive.
the flashing process.
5.Since this is on a cd, and your bios and flasher are on a "virtual drive"(lettered "R") within the cd, we have to first access that section as in basic DOS intruction.
7. in that case, type T:\\\\R:\\\\ now you are accessing your files, you should get this... R:\\\\ Good, now its just like a floppy(and loads 10x quicker too!)
8. Type R:\\\\ASRFLASH OCWB1.BIN
hit enter...
9. wait a couple seconds......
10. Now it should flash and then reboot.
Make sure you hit f2 to load default settings first so theres no conflicts..
then just load into windows, see everything alright.. then reboot and PLAY!

also thismotherboard supports the thermal take big typhoon if u want to know :]

Should be a good thread...I haven't done the vcore mod yet but from what you said it sounds pretty easy!

it's a good mobo overall. but too bad it doesn't work too well with OCZ ram, it just didn't let me run 1T and couldn't oc the ram much. with vmod @ 1.55v, i was able to hit 2790G, but i wasn't happy becoz i couldn't oc the ram due to some reasons. so now i changed to asus' mobo. now is all good, 1T enabled and oc the ram a little.

I have had the same problem...I can't even oc my ram 10mhz and it is unstable even at 2T and looser timings
Nice thread mate .Its good to see you will be helping others..Especially people with this board.
if my thread dosnt help u then tell me why please no point in just saying no is there ?
Just wondering if there is a way to fix the bios from going back to the defaults when changing the voltage and multi. I tried to manually set the voltage to 1.45v and just leave the multi at 11x but whenever I reboot it just sets it back to auto..
umm how do i update my bios with one of the beta ones??

or you can do it by floppy disk format it into a bootdisk then drag the file onto the floppy restart pc and do the same as above accept make it the floppy that its boots to also there are some probs with the beta bioses numba 1 restarts your pc when u click on some video files on the internet

yes it is but if u want to overclock it the ht is restrictied to 274 so i would kepp the orignal one not unless u cant on that one as well . u have a 3700 so 1.2 should be fine not unless your wanting to get above 300ht

ps have u found my thread usful at all
shocking people saying no bet they dont even have an asrock lol
