Im trying to hold off purchasing a 670 until the asus one comes out. It seems to be faster and better cooled for only $20 premium. Does anyone know when this card is coming out? Can anyone share any concrete info on the speed/etc? Is anyone else waiting for this card?

Yea, here. http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_670_Direct_Cu_II/ as for release date I wouldn't expect it to be too much longer, it's not like it's a different card from the one they are already selling, it's just a factory overclock.

thanks! and I've heard that the asus cards are more "cherry picked" since they have to overclock higher to meet the requirements. Doesn't it also have significantly better cooling?

should I get a different 670 instead?

Yep, they are better. Not that it seems to matter right now, because they aren't for sale anywhere in the US right now (TOP or non-top). Supposedly yes it does have significantly better cooling. The only other highly recommended stock 670 is the Gigabyte.

I'd pay $450 for the TOP model

It's faster than a stock GTX 680 and has a fantastic heatsink/superior circuitry.

Wait for the one you want, otherwise you'll fall prey to a fallacy

I'm hoping that they show up a few hours after NewEgg releases my gift card credit

Was going to pull the trigger on the Gigabyte OC. But now that I've heard about this smoking card, it's time to wait again.

I don't think that's any more true than any other manufacturer. It wouldn't make a lot of sense financially. They get what chips they get from the ODMs.

With that said, generally, ASUS has had one of the better heatsink/fan combos with the Direct CUII (as opposed to the godawful Direct CUII w/triple slot), which will keep a card cool and stable. Since there are no other custom coolers save for GB and EVGA's FTW model, it's def. worth waiting for.

Yep and this is very mind boggling, because all "official" communication from Asus says they are available in the US, just that stock is low. Problem with their assertion is that no one has been able to buy one in the US.

I haven't even seen one listed in the states yet
