Anyone have any ideas why flashing from 0706 to 0711 would cause Windows to stop booting?

The board came with 0602 installed, I used the ASUS Update utility to flash to 0706 last week, and today (ironically) after getting the 4th Windows install on this machine aparrently working....I decided to flash to 0711.

Well, it flashed fine....BIOS posts and shows 0711.....but after post it just sits at a black screen not doing anything.

I restarted and reset my boot priority thinking maybe that was it, set my RAID to first, DVD as 2nd, and Floppy to 3rd then disabled the 4th.

Still, hangs after POST.....I yanked the battery and will try it again in a few hours just in case, but not sure what is going on. This build just seems.....stubborn.

Anyone have some suggestions? Had this experience?

Well, I just figured out the problem..........

I thought it still saw my array, but when I took a closer look, it was only seeing one drive.

I forgot to set my IDE to RAID again, so it wasn't seeing the array........this is my first RAID setup so I call a muligan on that one

I also have been wondering about 0711. I seem to have stability issues when compared to 0614. I also need to stop making concurrent hardware & BIOS changes. One at a time is most likely better.

Maybe you guys should use the "load fail-safe settings" option.

I just did the same update, and had the same problem. I ended up turning off the PC, shutting off the power supply, and waiting a few minutes. When I turned it on, it booted up but said "overclock failed", I just loaded the dafault settings and it worked again. I haven't checked the BIOS revision, but I think the update worked, just the same strange problem of not booting.
