Hi Overclockers,

I have a really annoying issue that I simply cannot put my finger on. Project: HAL9000, Has the following:

MOBO: ASUS ROG Crosshair iv Extreme
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core 4GHz Socket AM3+ 125W Black Edition - QVL from 3023
RAM: G Skill 16G(4x4G) DDR3 1600Mhz PC12800 RL 9-9-9-24(CL9Q-16GBXL) - QVL
GPU: Nvidia 6500 128MB
SSD: 4x Samsung 250GB SSD 840 Series- SATA III 6Gbs, 2xnm Toggle DDR 2.0 NAND, 3-Core MDX Controller, 512MB - no raid
HDD: 2x Western Digital 2TB SATA3 64M Black(WD2002FAEX) - no raid
OS: Windows 8 Professional x64
CPUC: Noctua NH-C12P SE14 CPU Cooler
PSU: 700Watt Cooler Master Extreme Plus
Case: Cooler Master Praetorian 730

Computers function: Virtual machine host, using Hyper

Problem: System does a full lock - no mouse movement or keyboard input accepted, hangs indefinitely or BSOD if running for more than 10 minutes.

Things I have done:

Replaced CPU: originally the CPU was an AMD phennom II 3.3GHz 6 core - problem still persists
Tested ram with 16GB corsair vengeance 2133mhz - Problem still persists
Updated BIOS to 3027 (beta / latest) - problem still persists
The XMP profile used - problem still persists
Manually set Ram clock settings - problem still persists.
Stock Bios chosen settings - Problem still persists.
Changed GPU. - The problem still persists.
Lowered ram speed to 1333 - Problem still persists.
Installed windows 7 Ultimate x64 - Blue screens after 15 minutes..

MEMTEST 86+ returns no errors after 8 hours and 5 runs.

On the 1st run in windows 8 and Windows 7 after fresh install, the system runs indefinitely. Ran prime95 for 30 min, 80% loading on the CPU and 100% RAM; while simultaneously running passmarks, burn-in test v6. 0, the system is stable and runs perfectly.

HOWEVER once I do a reboot using win8, second run and subsequent runs; the system locks either on the loading logo or the Seattle login page, or if I login quickly, will lock once the desktop is presented. For win 7 the system will BSOD after 10 or so minutes of browsing reddit.com, bot loads and login are fine..

What are your thoughts?

Have you checked Event Viewer?
Have you tried Goggling the BSOD error code?
Have you tried running only one stick of memory? In different slots?
Have you tried using a different windows install disk? (ie a different copy of windows.)
Have you tried assembling your components outside the case?
With one stick of memory and one HHD only?
