Asus FX502VM
i7 7700HQ
GTX 1060 3GB
120hz AUO B156HTN05.2 screen
Samsung 960 PRO 512GB OS
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB storage.

Core voltage offset at -110mV .
Turboboost disabled through registry edit to advanced power management setting. (explained on point 2.4 here http://www.geeks3d.com/20170213/how-to-disable-intel-turbo-boost-technology-on-a-notebook/)
GPU running Core 1900 MHz / Memory 4000 MHz
Gaming max temp at 71-72C.
Realbench stress test 5 mins 81-82C.

Am I doing ok? Or am I missing something?
Does the GPU voltage/freq curve make sense?

You can do better at the lower end of the GPU curve, try 1650MHz @ 0.8V, the rest look good.

Decided to raise to 1600MHz @ 0.8V and will test how it works out.
very much appreciated for the input!

Installed 15x15x2 mm copper shim to the PCH chipset.

for now, @ ROTTR benchmark is 1C lower at max temp 75C, gained 2 extra average fps.
let's wait and try again after a few hours of burning in.

Good post.
I like the fan holes. Did they help as much as one would think - a bunch?

I just ordered one of these yesterday: https://www.amazon.com/Wideview-i7-7700HQ-processor-Keyboard-FX73VE-WH71/dp/B076QGSPY8 after my hated Dell Venue 11 pro finally died and look what showed up in my inbox today: https://www.asus.com/us/support/Article/925/

Asus is looking pretty good in my book.

Don't think my laptop will need as much help in cooling since it has a much smaller gpu, but I was thinking of doing a lot of what you have done. Thanks for giving me tips on tuning.

@rluker5

actually, your spec and mine only have a little difference in temperature.
you will need some tweaking to some point.
