So this is my first Asus board in like 15 years and they have a lot of software on their website. What do I really need and what should I avoid here?

I'm particularly confused in the SSD section I have 2 SSD's not in raid, which drivers/software do I need there?

Gamer first software any good?

Whats the difference between Intel LAN Driver V18.5.54.0 for Windows 7/8/8.1 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL) and Intel(R) Gigabit Ethernet Driver V18.1.59.0 for Windows 7/8 32bit & 64bit.(WHQL) which one do I want or both? They both sound like lan drivers.

Thanks guys

i been in your same situation a while back, it was a bit overwhelming at first.

i just get the basics from asus:

-bios updates

-asus suite (if you want to play around with it)

-realtek's website is a bit of a mess, so you can just download audio drivers from asus too

i would go straight to intel and get the latest:

-vga (optional, good if your gpu ever goes bonkers)

-chipset

-sata (intel rst), i wouldn't bother with the asmedia sata 6 drivers

-usb3

-lan = about your lan question, just go here : https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx and find your ethernet controller drivers

Went to Intels site and when I punch in the lan chipset it gives be 5 pages of downloads of course the obvious would be the driver. But I'm also curious about what the difference between the two since one is 100mb more.

Intel LAN Driver 72,28 MBytes and Intel(R) Gigabit Ethernet Driver 173,69 MBytes

When I search on Intels site for Z87 or under Embedded Components > Embedded Chipsets, nothing shows up for Z87... This is getting silly.

just punch in ethernet components -> ethernet controllers -> intel i217v (that should be the one for your mobo)

then look for the Network Adapter Driver for Windows 7* , it's version 19.0

you literally need nothing else for intel lan
