ASUS P4P800S-X overclock and onboard sound not work

2457 Views 11 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  kryster
I have a Asus P4P800S-X (http://www.asus.com/products/mb/sock...x/overview.htm) motherboard, with the 1005A bios (newest)

I finish install everything, drive(all newest), software(updated) and games(patched), etc ..

everything work fine ..

and now, I overclock it .

I go to bios, and go for 30% auto overclock, it is a P4 2.4A and it run @3.11 ,

I play some games, and it very smooth.

but only 1 problem, the Soundmax Panel can't find the sound device, I have no sound with it after overclock, I installed the SoundMAX Audio logo driver Version 5.12.01.3665 from asus (http://www.asus.com.tw/support/downl...00S-X&Type=All) also the chipset drive .

I don't know why once it overclock, it can't find the sound device , I tired all 10% 20% 30% and manual 166mhz for overclock, and all the rest is Auto .

I change the clock speed to normal , and the sound device is back and have sound, but once I overclock, it disappear ... so, anyone know how to fix it ?

and if this can't fix, what motherboard will be good for overclock that around 100$cad .

thanks you very much .

everything work fine ..

and now, I overclock it .

It sounds just like you do not have you AGP/PCI frequencies locked on 66/33Mhz. the reason you loose your sound when overclocking is the PCI bus is increasing synchronous with the FSB which makes it unstable when it gets to a certain value.

Also you might look into a BIOS update, they might have fixed that issue.

ohoh , thanks archer_456 , it work now .

so, whatever I overclock on the cpu, I must lock the agp/pci on 66/33mhz ? .
