hi all,
ive been looking into getting this board because its got the best of both worlds, good overclocking and good board layout (unlike the abit aw9d max). my intentions are to run an e6600 and 2 7900gto's in sli. my delimma is what pcie slots should i use for sli because of the 8X 8X 4X 8X speeds of the four pciexpress slots. i saw somewhere where they used slots 1 and 4... will an sli bridge reach that far?

the only problem with slots 1 and 2 is they are too close together because the 7900gto's have the double wide cooling...so its either 1 and 3, or 2 and 4 ( dont know if thats possible as its not in the first slot) , or 1 and 4 ( i cant find where i saw that but i thought i did.... is it possible?)

i think sli would still be possible in slots 1 and 3 but it would be at 8X and 4X which would be slower that 8X 8X......whats the point of getting two cards if im only going to see a 50% gain, why not just get a 7950gx2?

well im runnin a samsung 24", do you think it will still be enough for that?? ive seen the 7900gto's overclocked to 7900gtx speeds and two 7900gts's blows a 7950gx2 out of the water, not to mention that getting the two card is actually the same price if not cheaper than the one 7950gx2.

You need hacked driver for the P5W64 WS. Second you'll want slot 1 and 2 for maximum performance

well for anyone who needs this information in the future i found the site that i was talking about where they said they had their cards in slots 1 and 4 and in SLI. it turns out that on the p5w64 you can run sli in 1 and 3 (8X, 4X) , in slots 2 and 4 (8X, 8X), or in slots 1 and 4 (8X, 8X). i just wish someone could explain how the sli bridge covers that much ground to go from slot 1 to slot 4.

You'll still need hacked driver regardless

are the hacked drivers that big of a nucsense (spelling) ? if you run the 7950gx2 you do not need the hacked drivers however. well you need hacked drivers for sli on any intell motherboard anyways so that shouldnt be a bad selling point for this board. finding that has made my decision because it overclocks very well for a 975 motherboard and its got 8X 8X pcie capability unlike the 965 motherboards..... and i can run my x-fi if i go sli ( unlike the abit aw9d max).

ah sweet!!!! where did you get the longer sli bridge?? wait... is the shorter one for use with cards that only take up one slot and are right next to each other and the longer for cards that take up two slots and are right next to each other? anyways, keep me updated on that board i really really want and this whole sli thing is my only dilema at the moment. hope everything goes well!
