I'm buying it. Some say it's bigger than standard ATX form factor, will this fit Thermaltake Element G case?

It's not really bigger than Standard ATX, or it would have to be listed as a form factor other than ATX. With the false floor on the Element G it may be a tight squeeze, but I see no reason for it to not fit. It just may not be all that knuckle-friendly.

If you're at all worried about space, I know it's overused, but perhaps the HAF 932 would be more your speed. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119160 It has great airflow, more space to work in than the Element, and is built like a tank. It is a big case, though, so it may not be what you're looking for. My only concern is that the false floor of the Element may be nice sometimes, but it may become an annoyance when you are first building. I know because my case has a false floor, and it makes CF/SLI probably not an option unless single-slot cards start coming out again, and attaching USB and front panel leads to the motherboard was a bit of a pain.

The Rampage II Extreme is bigger than the average bear. It fits nicely in my Antec 1200 case ... unfortunately it blocks all the passthrough slots so cable management is poor. I compared the Rampage to my other x58 and the latter fits like a glove in the 1200 without blocking the holes.

Bottom line:

The Rampage is wider because of the switches and sensors used by hardcore overclockers. To mount a Rampage extreme you need to use extensions, set up all your sata cables, i/o cables, sensor cables, before you place it on the mobo tray. That is rather difficult to do but not as difficult as adding all those cables when the mobo is in place.

You would think they would have to list is as Extended ATX or something else. Newegg still has it listed as only 9.6" wide, so it's odd that it would cover holes another board wouldn't...

You are not the only one who got screwed. When I bought the mobo, it was listed as ATX. I was shocked to see that my 902 with UD3R has better cable management than the 1200 with Rampage II. You will spend 40 minutes finding the i/o hole because the manual is very detailed.

Don't get me wrong, it is an amazing motherboard but wider than normal.

Lads, it will fit the holes on the case but it is a full inch wider!

I had an Asus p5k se then once i upgraded to maximus II formula all my cut cable holes were blocked so i guess its about 5cm wider than my old mobo
got to do all holes again

I love how some people talk ... "ATX is ATX" ... I spent 1 hour trying to do cable management without extensions in the antec 1200 and the motherboard does not allow it
! It blocks the holes in the Antec 1200 and if that case does not allow for cable management, I do not know what does.

Lol, cable management is a pain when i have 4 cathodes fan controller and like 8 odd fans , expecially after all my cable management holes have been covered with my new mobo, but its worth every bit of it since this mobo is amasing.

I'm so confused about whether to get this case and that mobo now, especially that it's a mid-tower. I need someone who has the case lol. I really want good cable management without the motherboard blocking the holes because I don't want to have to drill anything, if I have to I'll just buy a P6t Deluxe V2. I wouldn't want the motherboard squishing down on the PSU cables. I don't know...my current rig is a mess at the moment NO cable management at all.
Micro ATX Rampage II Gene. No size issues, lol.

You need a big tower for that motherboard and some skill in arranging the cables. It will not allow you to be flexible in a midi tower. Bad cabled management equals poor airflow. Shame really cos the motherboard is great.

I think if you are spending this ammount of money on a motherboard with core i7, get a FUll tower case. Problem solved?

If this is the case :

You can forget about it. It will be so wide that it will reach the optical unit bay area. The holes are perfect tho
.

Add another inch where the PSU connects to the motherboard and you will have the Rampage II dimensions.

I have both manuals on my desk and as I pointed out in my first post ATX is not really ATX :

1. Asus Rampage II Extreme : 12 x 10.6 (30.5cm x 26.9 cm)
2. Gigabyte UD3R : 30.5cm x 24.4cm

That is the case! to OP: GET A FULL TOWER

+1 to get a new case. The motherboard is wider than standard ATX motherboards by upto approximately an inch wide. The P6T is an alternative, but if you want bragging rights, well... join the club!
Ok thanks for the replies. I actually found the full tower version of the case, the Element V, so I guess it won't be an issue anymore.
