So slick! I must resist switching my REIII extreme to this one....not enough Sata6/USB3 though
The molex on the sound card thing would be a pain for wire management lol
Didn't Intel pretty much kill off the 1366 socket? If so what would be the point of releasing this now? Or am I thinking of something completely different lol.

More PCI-E Lanes for really high end graphics cards in SLI/Crossfire, or for high end cards to come.

Also for the factor of "if it's out there for sale, someone will buy it".

Hmm, see what you mean on the sound card thing.. Awesome looking board though.. Yoh.
geez...it was sexy til' i saw the price...

but i guess for the NIC/Xonar it's worth it (maybe?)
Do you think that re3 blocks will fit in this mobo?

Personally, I think it will fit ..

the board is relatively the same price as the R3E but the BE comes with Asus' very own Xonar (STX comparable) sound card as well as a Killer NIC which would run roughly the same price if not more if bought separately.

It does seem a bit late to release a new 1366 board. The high-end never seems to care though does it?

It is pretty much the same issue as the 4 pin floppy power connector required on the higher end Asus sound cards.

Nice looking board. My only thought is that it's a bit late in the game to be bringing out new X58 boards? Meaning who is this aimed at? Someone with an i7 chip and X58 board is unlikely to buy a new board, it will not be a huge stride over any existing decent X58 board.

Someone buying new is much more likely to go with Sandy Bridge with the exception of the few that are looking at 6 core processors.

I doubt we will see very many of these out in the wild...

yeah I dont understand what they are doing here, I mean unless they're trying to get away with throwing a couple upgrades on a board and making money on it because its a "black" edition, its just marketing bs thats all this is, sure they throw in the nic and sound card but I dont think it justifies buying this board
