ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) today introduced the MW221U 22" widescreen LCD monitor, which incorporated a wide viewing angle, Trace Free Technology to accelerate grey-to-grey response time to 2ms, and DVI input with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) support. A 20-inch widescreen solution, MW201U, is now available as well for those who require a smaller display. "The MW widescreen LCD monitor series is the logical step after the release of products with built-in webcam and powerful subwoofers earlier this year," said Vincent Chiou, Director of Display Business Unit. "As the display market migrates towards widescreens, ASUS will introduce two more widescreen series along with the MW series in the fourth quarter, to provide a complete monitor family for different user needs."

That's a beautiful monitor...I hate round stands though. I want a stand like my Dell, only on that monitor with that nice metal look strip at the bottom....very sexy. Wonder how it performs..

Probably have to pay a premium for the HDCP support. And the MPAA probably gets royalties on it

I have HDCP support.

My monitor was only 600 Canadian.

That's a decent price for a monitor of that size.

EDIT: If it's good, that is...

Been thinking about getting an LCD lately but went to Best Buy today and saw a 22" WS and I wasn't impressed, it looked small (height screen wise).

2ms is great but how about the grays? Are they still as bad as all LCDs?

IMO, LCDs will never be, I'm saying never, be as good as CRTs.

They JUST came out with a new CRT technology. They're gonna be around for a while. These new ones are super thin, and PWN all LCDs....the only thing I don't like about them? Radiation.

Apparently they're flicker free..so that'll be sweet, but my vision is already effed up enough as it is from CRT screens.

Interesting. I was watching a sci show on PBS a few weeks ago and they were saying nanotechnology would eventually allow you to carry around your TV/Display like a map. You would just unroll it out of your backpack for viewing.

HDCP......lovely.......nothing like hard coded DRM to limit what I can watch and do in my own home

I remember someone posted about the New CRT designs a while back, think they were HDCP infected too.
