So I get home one day, and turn my computer on.
It lights up, hard drives start up, but it doesnt post.
Turn it off, try again.... same thing.
I turn it on (still no post) and let it sit over night.... nothing.
I unplug all un-needed hd's (leaving only my os)... still nothing.
I try one more time, and for some reason it works.

I imedietly go to asus's wesite and download a bios update.
Hesitantly turn computer off and restart
..... doesnt post and I cant get it to boot so I cant even update.

Im really at a lose for words.
It wont post so how do I even get into the bios to update?

btw, I have xp and 7 dual boot.

the update I found but cant even apply?

If i remember correctly you have to reset the OV CPU jumper! to default then try. if your overclocking or not your computer ws probably running hot!
hmm. I dont know what temp I was running at but naw, i wasnt overclocking. I was thinking about it! Ill try that. thanks!
well im not really sure what your talking about? I looked through my manual and didnt find anything about a CPU jumper and didnt seen anything on my motherboard.
For the record I wasnt overclocking so I never changed any jumpers?

ok problem solved for the time being and for the sake of knowledge, ill post what i did.
I unpluging all components and testing after each trying to isolate the problem.
I got all the way down to my cpu and heard that my fan might be shorting out, so i unplugged my cpu fan, turned it on and it posted! yay! I then plugged everything back in, testing after each to try and figure out the problem component. I finished plugging everything in and it worked fine!

sooo..... I still dont know what the problem but the answer is a new motherboard, which i needed anyways.
