Xonar's Packaging The Asus Xonar has made waves ever since we saw it at Asus' booth at CeBIT, and subequently, we have been following up on its development from external sources as well as some exclusive news that we've gotten from the our sources in Asus. Right now, we take a first look at the components onboard, and at the same time we will do a brief component comparison with the Creative X-Fi Elite Pro. First, we'll start off with some of the specifications of the Xonar D2..

It is really worth noting here that this sound card is hands down the choice for the HTPC builder as the S/P Dif digital output can output up to a whooping 192K whereas the X-fi can only output at 96K Max, I might sell my X-fi and get this when it comes out.
Hmm, I would think that Creative now actually has some true competition, not to say that the Turtle Beach wasn't any good, but it finally has a strong competitor, I might be temped to buy one of these, and sell my X-Fi XM like elbrendo stated above me ^

R U Audiophile?

I just use 44.1/48KHz for X-Fi + HD595
192KHz is for pro. users that use in studio

I'll keep my X-Fi, because creative has more experience

I will definitly sell my SBA4 for this one, only sad thing is that all games are made with Advanced EAX 5.0 I think, and I'm sure the Asus one doesn't support it. However I wish that the future games will take advantage of some features the Asus one has and the Creative one hasn't.
Wow! This comes with Ableton Live

It looks like a very good card. I like the little bits, like the jacks that have LED's in them and it looks like it could be a winner with the audiophiles too.

Wow, that is a sweet soundcard. The LED's in the ports is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Like Emmanuel said, granted it won't have EAX 5.0, Creative will DEFINITELY have a competitor now.
Hopefully if this card sells well it will prompt Cretive to pull their finger out and get some better driver support for their X-Fi's. Needless to say I'm very interested in the Xonar as a replacement for my previous X-Fi Fatal1ty.

That's pretty sleek, I'll definitely try to get my hands on one if it's not to pricey.
I am so going to get it. Is it PCI-Express or PCI-Express 1x?
