Asus Xonar DX question

1577 Views 13 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  The_Rocker
I just got this sound card and I have it in my middle PCI-E x16 slot. I applied the hotfix, installed drivers and rebooted. It works fine but when I plug in my audio connectors on my case I get no sound and no mic. I have the cable from my case plugged into the card. I also tried my headset on the back of the card and I get sound but still no mic. So, obvious question, any help?

What speaker setup do you have? You might need to change the settings in the software so you get the correct sound output for your setup.

Also, for the mic, do you have any other connection for it besides the card? Onboard?
I have the X-530 by Logitech as speakers but I'm having the problems with my headset which is Koss SB45. The drivers are setup for 2 channel. I just found how to fix the mic issue at least when plugged into the back of the card. It was through control panel, set up as line in instead of microphone. I still have the issue of no sound and no mic in the front panel on my case. I checked it and it is plugged into the card.
Is your extra power connecter (the floppy one) connected?
You might have to manually select the front output in the software. Could be that it's not automaticly detecting that something is pluged into the front panel.

Also, using HD or AC97? You might have to enable HD in BIOS if that is an option there if you use it.
You have to go into the control panel and select the Headphones as the output (then back to Speakers when not using headset). I found this out after installing my ASUS Xonar DX as well.

Basically change the Analog out to Heaphones

I think the mic works from the front panel. I can't hear myself because the audio doesn't work from the front panel but I can see it detecting it in Control panel when i blow on it. Here's a pic.

I also should mention I have problems with the latest Drivers available on their website. But running the drivers on the disk worked perfect.
I wish this card worked with my 750i, I miss it so much.

I think its already been mentioned before, but it seems like the program or w/e you are using to record/hear your voice isnt set to the correct input device.

... No it is set correctly... that's not the problem now. You can see I have it correctly set and it detects sound through the microphone. The problem is front panel audio.

You should be able to select Front Panel like this:

Thnx a lot! +Rep. I didn't know what FP stood for, thought it was some sort of optical output.
