Hi, I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ @ 2.1GHZ. This is a Compaq OEM PC so the board clearly isn't meant for overclocking, but does anybody think I could overclock this? If so, how much and how would I do it?

If I can't, tell me because I don't want to damage my computer.

probably not. most of those boards really blow. is it like an asus a8n-la or something? might as well pop a flashlight in there and find the model number on it.

AMDs are a better value. I always liked COMPAQ because though their customer service was next to nil, they had better parts at the same prices as the other brands.

but now they come with HP bundled softwarez.... ew

just about all oem machinesare crap! They do put enough of the right things in them to make a decent starter system to build from but you can not do any tweaking around in the bios unless you can find a modded bios for your board if they would get better mobo and unlock the bios I think they would be ok to start with.
