Right now I'm using the stock fan, with no oc on the processor. I don't really have an interest in overclocking right now. However, I would like to know how much cooler I can get the processor. With the stock fan, it idles at 26 C, and under full load gets up to around 40 C. Which AM3 after market fan would you suggest, and what results could I possibly expect from it?
If you change out that stock cooler with an aftermarket one like say a xiggy dark knight and some good quality tim ( mx-3, ocz freeze ) you should be able to get yourself 6/7c lower in Idle temps but your ambients will play an important role in that factor.
By changing your cooler out now will be one less step in the process when you decide to start overclocking.
Yes, idle temps mean very little to the overclocking community but one way to look at it is if you start your overclocking at a low idle temp than that is farther you'll have to go to reach max safe temps and more headroom. GL when you do decide!
